2010 Reading Plan

January 15, 2010 — Leave a comment

After a morning of preparing for Sundays, “Food Fight” message got to head into Tulsa to meet a friend for lunch.  Afterwards headed over to Barnes and Noble and snagged a few books that are on my reading list for 2010.  Here’s a little pic of them awaiting my curiosity.  You can also click on this link 2010 BOOK READING PLAN if you are interested in some books that will help shape my thinking.

I always try to have a variety of different kinds of books in all areas.  Much of the time I’ll read a book that relates to some messages coming up the path.  This past fall I engulfed four different books on the Holy Spirit because I knew we would be doing a series this February.

Here’s some quotes that motivate me to recharge up my habit of reading:

There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate’s loot on Treasure Island.
~ Walt Disney

It is a great thing to start life with a small number of really good books which are your very own.
~ Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

The greatest gift is the passion for reading.
It is cheap, it consoles, it distracts, it excites,
It gives you knowledge of the world and experience of a wide kind.
It is a moral illumination.

~ Elizabeth Hardwick

No entertainment is so cheap as reading, nor any pleasure so lasting.
~ Lady M. W. Montague

Just the knowledge that a good book is awaiting one at the end of a long day makes the day happier.
~ Kathleen Norris

Books are the treasured wealth of the world…
~ Henry David Thoreau

What are some books you will be tackling this year?
